I am always in search of low calorie desserts that satisfy my sweet tooth and I have truly hit the jackpot with this simple Amish inspired cake.
80 Calorie Healthy Apple Cake
An incredible apple dessert that smells and tastes like home and gives a lasting comforting feeling. With less than a 100 calories a slice this is a must bake.
Ingredients
- 1 cup Swerve Zero calorie sweetener any zero calorie sweetener should work
- 1/4 cup plain Greek yogurt fat-free
- 2 apples, peeled and diced *see notes
- 1/2 tbsp cinnamon
- 1/4 tsp nutmeg optional
- 1/4 tsp ginger optional
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 1 cup whole wheat flour
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees and spray 9 inch cake pan with cooking spray.
- In a large bowl, combine egg, sugar, spices, and yogurt. Then stir in the apples till thoroughly incorporated.
- Add baking soda and flour to the bowl using a fork to combine.
- Add to prepared baking pan and bake 30-35 minutes, until tooth pick comes out clean and sides and top of cake are a lovely golden brown. This cake is very moist so do not be surprised if the texture and spring of the cake is closer to a bread.
Notes
*I used Gala apples since I had them at home but traditionally Granny smiths are often used in apple treats for a more tart flavor.
